Introducing RVLution
There's a RVLution on the horizon

There's been a lot of excitement over the past week, with both Nintendo and Sony putting out system firmware updates on the same day. Now today, we're putting out a Riivolution update ourselves!

Nintendo's update was a maintenance update - not much changed at all - but Riivolution 1.03 was inadvertently affected. Today Riivolution 1.04 has been released and is working on "4.3v2" again. This time it's been released as a boot.elf, so it will launch from the Homebrew Channel, Bannerbomb, Smash Stack, or Indiana Pwns directly. We've also included a new savefile redirection feature that allows you to store your saves directly on SD, USB, or even Wi-Fi. It's a great way to keep your normal save untouched when trying out a full game hack!

Sony's push for their update was obvious, as they state that it "includes additional security features." Specifically, it was put out to stop PSGroove and other similar devices. Progress on PlayStation 3 hacking has been tremendous, and things are improving each day. We're currently at work on "R3volution" for the PS3, so resist the urge to go on PSN and hold off on updating to 3.42 if you want to have a chance to try out custom games.

Sep 19 Update: The original 1.04 Riivolution release contained a bug which prevented the channel from installing properly. This has been fixed now, so if you're seeing error -2 when installing the channel make sure to download it again.
Hello fellow RVLutionaries!

I'd like to let you guys know about the new Brawl Section we opened up. The reasoning behind it is simple.
More and more we've found ourselves working together with the guys from Smash Mods (especially Bionic Sonic). And we thought it might be a good idea to open a little Brawl section on RVLution. Seeing as the big brawl forums have no-homebrew policies, and therefore game-hackers are second class citizens there. They might want to have someplace where they are welcomed, and can work alongside other game-hackers. I look forward to seeing you all posting there!
Everyone from the RVLution team would like to say a big thank you for all of the support that RVLution has received, and as such we have now established an IRC channel for people to join.

You can now receive the most up to date info from the #RVLution IRC channel on Freenode (webchat). Please follow along and join the new channel to stay up to date with our projects. Should anyone require help or further information, do not hesitate to ask in the IRC channel linked above.
With System Menu 4.3 just released, we've been forced to put out a maintenance update of Riivolution for those unfortunate enough to have updated.

Luckily for you guys, this means you get a sneak peak at the latest Riivolution, which wasn't due for a release for a while longer. Besides generic stability improvements, the new version now makes it easier to replace files on the fly with RiiFS. A new native server is available for Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux that now automatically connects over a LAN, removing the need for an SD card or special XML. See the changelog for all the new features and changes.

Unfortunately, Nintendo's update has disabled Bannerbomb and the Homebrew Channel. This makes it harder to run Riivolution; until any updates are available for those programs, Riivolution must be run by using either Indiana Pwns or Smash Stack (only one time is necessary for a channel install).
It's been 9 months since the last Wii System Menu update. We finally get 4.3 today and what does it do? Absolutely nothing useful.

This new update was put out solely to combat homebrew.
It kills the Homebrew Channel. It kills Bannerbomb. It kills Riivolution.

So if you're using any homebrew, Riivolution, or playing custom New Super Mario Bros. Wii levels we'd suggest not updating at the moment. We'll let you know when updates are available and it's safe to update your Wii without losing homebrew capabilities.

See Omega's comment below if you're interested in exactly what the update blocks, and the new Error 004.
